Atlas of Life ("we", "us", "our") operates the Atlas of Life mobile application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Email address — only if you choose to sign in to sync your progress. We never make your email public.
- Purchase receipts — when you buy a subscription, processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store (and validated by RevenueCat). We do not see or store your full payment card details.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Gameplay statistics — wins, guess distribution, streaks, and gems balance. Used to display your stats and to keep them backed up across devices when signed in.
- Device identifiers — Apple's IDFA or Google's Advertising ID, only when you grant tracking permission (iOS App Tracking Transparency / Android ad-tracking consent). Used to serve relevant ads via Google AdMob. If you decline, only non-targeted ads are shown, or no ads at all.
- Approximate device information — platform (iOS/Android), app version, and language. Used for analytics and stability.
- Crash and performance data — collected via standard platform tooling to diagnose bugs.
1.3 Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone audio, camera images, or messages.
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To authenticate you and sync your progress across devices when you sign in.
- To validate subscription purchases and grant entitlements (e.g. archive access, ad removal).
- To serve ads in the free tier, including personalized ads only where you have granted permission.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and abuse.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
3. Third-Party Services
The Service uses the following third-party providers, each of which processes data under their own policies:

Google AdMob and Apple/Google advertising SDKs may use device identifiers to serve ads. iOS users are asked via App Tracking Transparency before any such use; Android users are asked via the Google User Messaging Platform consent flow.
4. Data Retention
- Gameplay stats and gems are retained until you delete your account or reset your progress.
- We retain account data for as long as your account is active. Sign-in sessions expire per the auth provider's defaults.
- Crash and aggregate analytics are retained for up to 24 months.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data (e.g. update your email).
- Delete your account and associated data. You can do this directly in the app: Profile → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
- Withdraw consent for personalized ads at any time via your device's privacy settings (iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- Export a copy of your gameplay data by contacting us.

6. Children's Privacy
The Service is rated 4+ on the App Store and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children as defined by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
7. International Users
Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers in accordance with applicable law.
8. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted transit (HTTPS) and row-level security on the database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where required, within the app.
